He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edmond Hanson and Bessie Gayle Hanson; his sons, Ricky and Rick; his granddaughter Katalina; his brother Bruce; his sister-in-law Helene; his daughters-in-law, Elie and Helen; his stepchildren, Rafi and Kat; his grandchildren, Kayla and Nick; and his pets, Leo and Lola.

In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to Valley Children's Hospital.

“Dear Nikki, It is with a very sad heart that I write to you at this time of grief in your life. I first met Gary in 1957 when our family moved to Burney, California. He lived only a few houses from me and we spent a lot of time together. He wanted to be a radio announcer or D.J. and we spent time pretending that he was. He had recordings from radio stations that he would play and mimic. We played together in many bands at Fall River High and for "real" dances on weekends. He will be missed!”
