He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Carlson and Bertha Carlson; his brother Ralph; his sister-in-law Carol Carlson; and his brother Jim Carlson.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Carlson; his sister-in-law Karon Carlson; his son Luke (Kathy Carlson); his granddaughters, Brianna and Madeline; his son Bart (Stacy Carlson); and his grandchildren, Ty and Jase.
