He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Austin Kenney and Muriel Kenney; his wife Elaine; his sons, Michael Kenney (Liza) of Fremont and John Kenney of Fremont; and his brother Thomas (Patricia) of Folsom, CA. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Some say Kenney's most notable contribution to the department has been his supervision of the opening and staffing of four new fire stations, the demolition of two others and the acquisition of 13 trucks and engines.
