He was predeceased by: his parents, Vera Valdez and Juan Valdez; his brother Eduardo Valdez; and his grandparents, Eduardo Alaniz, Maria Alaniz, Margarito Calderon and Basilia Calderon.

He is survived by: his daughter Clarice McPherson; his son-in-law Ken McPherson; his son Freddy Valdez; his daughter-in-law Angela Valdez; his siblings, Benjamin Valdez, Armando Valdez, Luis Valdez, Dorotea Valdez Alvarez, Maria Valdez and Faustino Alaniz; and his grandchildren, Madisun Valdez, John Valdez, A. J. Valdez and Gianna Valdez.
