Diane Marie (Gillis) Garcia Obituary

Diane Garcia, 66, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments, a testament to the deep connections she cherished throughout her life.

Born on August 22, 1958, in Watertown, Massachusetts to Evelyn Larkin and James Gillis. Diane was the middle of 5 children. Diane was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. In 1975, she welcomed her first child, Jason Gillis, and in 1978, her second child, Jaimee Garcia (Benson). Family was at the heart of Diane’s world, and she dedicated her life to making lasting memories with her children and beloved grandchildren.

Diane had a deep love for nature, finding peace in the ocean and joy in the simple beauty of the outdoors. She was an avid animal lover, with a special fondness for birds, which always brought her comfort and happiness. Her warmth, kindness, and love of life left an unforgettable mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Diane will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the love she shared and the moments she created with those closest to her.

She is survived by her children Jason Gillis and Jaimee Benson as well as 7 grandchildren, Robert Lucky, Janessa Soares, Jesse Gillis, Ethan Cardwell, Jason Gillis Jr, Harmony Gillis and Aria Gillis, her sister, brothers, neices, nephews, and friends.

Interment is private.
