Though Mary Joan may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Mary Joan touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She is survived by: her sons, Dr. Michael Dean Peterson and Marshall Drake Peterson; and her sister Barbara Jean Goehring. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Oak Hill Memorial Park (2640 Glenridge Rd, Escondido, CA 92027-4532).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would be appreciated.
