He was predeceased by: his siblings, John Paul and Kathryn; and his stepdaughter Janie Luis. He is survived by: his sister Marilyn Carter; his children, Lawrence Kagemann (Janice), Julie Daugherty (L. Eugene) and Joy Plantz (David); his grandchildren, Laura (Ben), Jessica, Seph, Adam, Jennifer, Mary, Cecilia and Julia; his namesake Frances; and his great grandchildren, Elijah and Charles. He is also survived by met the love of his life, his soulmate.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the McLeod Mortuary (1919 E Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92027).

In lieu of flowers, mourners are invited to support Forever Balboa Park in memory of Gregory Francis Smutko.
