He was predeceased by: his parents, William Swanson and Alma Swanson; and his brothers, William and Robert Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Agatha Swanson; his children, Jeff Swanson, Eric Swanson, Chris Swanson and Kari Swanson; his grandchildren, Jared, Jessica, Jason, Erica, Dirk, Kayla and Krystal; and his sister Lois Gordon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Legion Post #263.
