He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Ellis and Margaret Ellis; and his siblings-in-law, Doreen Lloyd and Bob Barr. He is survived by: his wife Judy Ellis; his children, Chris Ellis (Angela), Les Ellis (Tanya) and Michelle Ellis (Jason Fowlie); his grandchildren, Paige, Ryder, Sam, Emma, Avery, Ella, Ashley and Brooke; his siblings, Keith Ellis and Gail Barr; his close friend Orvall Durell; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Lloyd (Joanne) and Jack Lloyd. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and family.
