He was predeceased by: his siblings, Harold Eckert, Milo Eckert, John Eckert, Edna Joy and Verna Portanova; his son-in-law Jack Josnikoff; and his brother-in-law Wallace Willoughby.
He is survived by: his wife Gaile Eckert of Rapid City; his children, Max Eckert (Robert) of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Eckert of Palm Desert, CA and Marcia Eckert-Posnikoff of Palm Desert, CA; his sisters, Esther Downen (Maynard) of Fairburn, SD and Irene Willoughby of Midland, SD; and his grandson Will Posnikoff. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church would be welcomed.
