He was predeceased by: his daughter Isabel Rivas Aguilar; and his parents, Trinidad Martinez and Evilia Martinez. He is survived by: his wife Josie Rivas; his children, Ruben Martinez III, Chris Rivas, Yvonne Martinez and Rammy Martinez; and his siblings, Sylvia Toledo, Diana Martinez, Nina Martinez, Joe Martinez, Sammuel Martinez Sr., Hector Martinez, Joel Martinez and Rene Martinez Sr.. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
