Janie Arlina Wiley Obituary
Janie Arlina Wiley, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in her home. She was born on April 1, 1953, in San Francisco, California, to Thurman Luster and Ella Mae Marshall. When Janie was born, she came out the wrong way, "breach," and because she was born on April Fools' Day, she acted that way. A fool from the day she was born until the day she died. Her foolishness turned into many things, as Janie loved to have a good time! Janie was an extremely passionate woman. She cared about her family and friends but would flip out on you in a San Francisco minute if you pissed her off. And all anyone would be able to say is "Oh well… that's Janie".
Janie was the life of the party, and always told it like it was but full of spirit and love. Janie lived a beautiful life centered around love. Janie was married to her first love, Price Crumby. In this union, Mr. Price Crumby had a son, Efame, who became Janie's first child. Later, she gave birth to her second child, Fidel Crumby. Years later, she met her second husband, Louis Wiley. Janie graduated from Balboa High School in 1969. After high school, Janie completed dental school and trucking school. She also even became a travel agent.
She worked as a grocery store checker at Safeway in the city. She was a jack of all trades but found her fulfillment in retirement. Janie loved to travel, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a new adventure. As the life of the party, Janie loved music, and knew every song on the radio, but her favorite artist was "The Boss", Diana Ross. She loved going to concerts and he never missed seeing her. Janie was a very loving person and was always willing to help. Janie was everybody's favorite Auntie. Back in the day, she potty-trained all the kids, taught them how to drive, and was a wonderful babysitter.
She was a great cook. She loved any seafood and could eat a box of red licorice right in front of you while talking and doing 5 things at a time. Her diagnosis had the doctor give her 3 three days to live ... but she made it three years in a row and made it through each year. With her nine lives, she always had them. Janie accepted Christ at an early age. She later joined Paradise Baptist Church in Lake View, California, at a later age under the teachings of Reverend Howard Senior. She also sang in the choir.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents, Thurman Luster, and Ella Mae Marshall. Her brother Fleming Leatherman, her sister Ellen Luster Washington, and her brother Kermic Luster. Janie leaves to cherish her memories with her last sibling, Dorothy Johnston, and her two boys, Efame and Fidel Crumby. Janie also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
