He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Thorkelson of Patterson and Violet Thorkelson of Patterson; and his siblings, Ardyce Hedlind, Delwyn Thorkelson and Ronald Thorkelson.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Birch-Thorkelson; his children, Carole Thorkelson-Dompe (Tom), Jerry Thorkelson (Kathy) and Clay Thorkelson (Pam); and his stepchildren, Catherine Birch and Michael Birch. He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
