Nicholas Hay Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Nicholas Hay (Costa Mesa, California), born in Boston, Massachusetts, who passed away on August 24, 2018 at the age of 37. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Nicholas Hay to pay them a last tribute.
He is survived by: his mother Joan Hay (Sullivan); his sister Alison Hay of Costa Mesa, CA; his grandmother Joan Sullivan (Friis) of Fitchburg; his aunt Megan Sullivan of Eastham; and his uncles, Barry Sullivan (Carolyn) of Norwood and Patrick Sullivan of Wrentham.
He was predeceased by his father, James "Rick' Hay, who passed in 2006. Nick was born in Fitchburg, on December 19, 1980 and his entire life was rooted in Westminster. He was a graduate of Oakmont Regional High School in the Class of 2000 and attended Unity College in Maine. He served as a Selectman in the town of Westminster from 2007-2010, the youngest in town elected to the seat. He worked for Ocean Glass and Mirror as a Project Manager. Previously, Nick worked for J & R Glass in Fitchburg for more than a decade. Nick was boisterous and loyal. The definition of "people person", everyone he met was a friend. He would drop everything in a moment to lend a hand. His father instilled in him a deep love for the outdoors and he took great joy in inviting people to join him in those adventures, especially if boating and snowmobiling were involved. He never grew out of a love for Fruity Pebbles. In the rare times he simply sat back and relaxed on the couch, his laugh filled his home -- especially if he was watching Golden Girls. Nick's memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. on Academy Hill, the Town Common in Westminster. Burial will be private at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA.
