She was predeceased by: her parents, George Leonard Parkinson and Irene Louise Johnston; and her husband Jesse Carlton Spain of Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by: her daughter Michelle Spain-Allen; her son-in-law Dennis Allen; her grandson Martin Allen; her sister Adrienne Jackson (Ernest Jackson); her nieces, Dr. Minta Pamela Spain, Lorienne McNally and Caron Jackson Harrigan; and also, Patricia, Raymond Rawls, Isaiah and Christopher. She is also survived by nephews, other nieces, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
Joan Louise Parkinson was born on August 20, 1935 to the late George Leonard Parkinson, a business executive and Irene Louise Johnston, a home maker in Manhattan, New York.
