James Arthur Pingrey Obituary
James Arthur Pingrey (93) passed away on Memorial Day, May 27, 2024 at his residence in Colusa, California. He was born on March 24, 1931 to Carroll C. Pingrey and Dorothy Gish Pingrey, in Biwabik, MN. He attended the Biwabik schools before moving to Berkeley, CA in 1945 where he completed his education as an accountant. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1950 to 1956 with numerous assignments including Europe and Africa.
Upon leaving the service he and his brother Everett formed an aviation company in Robstown, Texas, primarily involved in aerial application and charter services. They operated this partnership in the location until 1967 when the company moved to the Sacramento Valley of Northern California where it operated until its sale in 1990.
Following the company's sale, Mr. Pingrey served as Treasurer for the Colusa County Water District in Arbuckle, CA until his retirement in 2001. Mr. Pingrey was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Colusa where he was an Elder and Deacon for many years. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The First Presbyterian Church of Colusa.
Survivors include his son David E. Pingrey of Sacramento, daughters, Donna L. Pingrey of Colusa, and Dianna L. Fielder of Bull Head City, AZ, grandons Christopher R. Lawson of Chicago, three great-grandsons Mathew, Nathan and Dylan.
He was preceded in death by his father Carroll in 1937, brother Everett in 1993, mother Dorothy in 2005 and sister Dorothy Beatrice in 2014.
Burial to be in the family plot of Colusa Cemetery, Colusa, California.
