He was predeceased by: his grandson Cody James Lay. He is survived by: his wife Oleda Lay; his sons, James Lay Jr. (Sheila) and Michael Lay (Natalie); his grandchildren, Devin Lay, Samantha Lay, James Lay III and Dillion Lay; and his great grandchildren, Logan Shannon and Deegan Shannon.
