He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Neil Thomas McDermott and Mary McDermott (Heeth); his spouse Lai Ching McDermott; his daughter Mary Kaczmarek (Matthew) of Wilmette; his grandchildren, Caroline and Theodore; his son Charles McDermott (Catherine) of Chula Vista; his grandchildren, Callie and Chloe; and his siblings, Tim McDermott of France and Molly Olivreau. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
