“Shirley was a friend from the late 1950s and early 1960s. We lived in neighboring towns, but both earned our 2nd Black Belts in Jujitsu in 1963. She married my HS classmate in 1968 where I was the Best Man at the wedding. I was a SGT in the Army traveling from Korea to Germany. Her husband, Gene, was entering Helicopter Pilot training for the Army. Shirley was independent, resilient, and self sufficient. RIP Shirley!”

“Shirley was my best friend and flite instructor. We went to school together in Ozark, Alabama and were always together. She told me some of the best times of her life were In Alabama. Her other good friend and classmate also died on May 2nt. We all use to study together at Jack Wilson's house who moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama after school. Shirley was a light and driving force in my life. She did better than any of her classmates in everything she set out to do. We have stayed in touch since 72.”
