He was predeceased by: his parents, Willem and Sybrigje; and his siblings, Jelte (Jerry), Sybren, Tsjerk, Harmen Lanting and Aafke Tjitske Lanting.

He is survived by: his wife Lucy; and his sister Minkje Schuur Lanting. He is also survived by daughter; and several nieces and nephews.
