He was predeceased by: his parents, Faye Lucille Newson (Cox) and Walter Eugene "Gene" Newson, Sr.; his wife Katrina; his sister-in-law Lora Newson; and his niece Carrie Lyn Newson.

He is survived by: his brothers, Walter Eugene Newson, Jr. and Michael Leon Newson, Sr. (Lynette); his nephew Michael Newson, Jr. (Jennifer); his niece Courtney Hoedl (Brian); his great-nephew Hayden Elliott; his great-nieces, Brileigh Hodel, Lilly Hoedl and Chloe Hoedl; his girlfriend Bonnie Hamilton; and also, Melissa, James and Baylee.
