It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Bernal (Castroville, California), born in Calexico, California, who passed away on October 24, 2018, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gustavo Cortez and Blanca Cortez; and her siblings, Mary Lou Martinez, Gustavo Jr and Hernando Cortez.

She is survived by: her children, Chris of Sacramento, Rita (Scott) of Morgan Hill, Joe (Denise) of Salinas and Alma (Troy) of Sacramento; and her sisters, Tonya Dominguez of El Centro, CA, Bivi Lares of Salinas, CA, Victoria Rivera of Clovis, CA, Linda Rodriguez of Gilroy, CA and Maria Perez of Salinas, CA.. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
