He was predeceased by: his parents, Yoriichi Kato and Ayako Kato (Tanishige); his wife Peggy; and his siblings, Violet Arakawa, Miyo Hiranaga, Tom Kato and Teruaki Kato.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mitsue Kojima and James Kato; his children, Gregory Kato, Karen Lipman, Janice Kato and Laurie Kato; his grandchildren, Jennifer Lipman, Michael Lipman, Jeremy Kato and Ryan Kato; and his great grandchild Matis Lipman. He is also survived by four nieces and nine nephews.
