It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dawn Mahony Byers on September 15th, 2023, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on August 10th, 1962, Dawn was a light in the lives of all who knew her.

Dawn married her soulmate, Eric Byers, in 1993, and together they built a life full of love and shared purpose. Eric stood steadfastly by Dawn's side throughout her life and especially during her brave fight against cancer, providing unyielding support.

Dawn's greatest pride and joy lay in her family. She leaves behind her two beloved children, Ben and Jill Byers, who were both at her side in her final moments, enveloping her in the love and respect she so richly deserved. Dawn's family was her cornerstone, and the love they shared will continue to shine brightly.

Gifted with an eye for detail and a heart full of love, Dawn founded Mono Mia over twenty years ago. Her Sacramento boutique was more than a business; it was a labor of love and a gathering place for a community brought together by her warmth and creativity. She had the rare ability to turn ordinary items into treasures, finding the perfect gift for the occasion.

Dawn faced her diagnosis with characteristic grace and resilience, choosing to live each day fully, without letting her illness define her. She continued to travel, to celebrate life's simple pleasures, and to spend invaluable time with her family, friends, and her devoted Mono Mia team.

To honor Dawn's memory, we take solace in the thought that she is looking down on us, her spirit living on in every monogrammed gift, every heartfelt laugh, and every connection made at Mono Mia. We invite you to share in the love and passion that was the essence of her being.

Instead of sending flowers, the family encourages donations to Shriners Children's Hospital Northern California—an institution near and dear to Dawn's heart. A lifelong advocate for children, Dawn's compassionate efforts had a global reach, touching lives from the Middle East to Central and South America, and right back to her local community in Sacramento.
