Marsha Hayes Obituary

Marcie Hayes, 71, of Burbank, California, left this world suddenly on January 9, 2023.

Marcie was born on September 28, 1951 to Frank and Rosalie Heller in Los Angeles, California. After Marcie graduated from Fairfax High School, she went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Education. She later went back to school to complete her Master's Degree in Special Education from Northridge University, graduating with Distinction.

After receiving her Masters Degree, Marcie pursued her life's work as an advocate for students with specific needs, particularly those with visual impairments. She would later expand her specialty to encompass a range of other disabilities such as student's with autism. All the way to her last day on earth, she worked tirelessly to help families with children with disabilities across the U.S. to navigate the complex special education system. Marcie advised on navigating laws and regulations that helped families get the services that they needed. She worked at the Braille Institute and Children's Hospital and later in life, became a private consultant.

Marcie loved spending time with her dogs, having long conversations with her Dad, eating international cuisine and taking long walks around her neighborhood.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Moran, her nephew, Matthew Schojan and her beloved dog, Pierre.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 2, 2023 in her honor.
