He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Chavez and Beatrice Chavez; his siblings, Elizabeth Chavez, Juanita Bontempo, Charles and Donald Chavez; his son Allen Chavez; and his great grandchild Jacob Chavez.
He is survived by: his stepson Alejandro; his wife Yvonne Chavez; his children, Jaime Chavez (Darlene) of Santa Maria, Shelly Allen (Don) of Prescott, Trina Grebeta (Dave) of Flower Mound, Ida Saldana (Val) of Fresno and Christine Keogh-Dwyer (Aaron) of Spencer; and his grandchildren, Deanna, Jennifer, Michelle, Jesse, Matt, Josh, Jessica, Cody, Jacob, Jordan, Isabella, Aaron, Nicolas, Gabriel, Thea and Gwendylan. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, as well as his brothers, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a Deacon at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Santa Maria, President of a local CB Club, The Santa Maria Wild Bunch, where he went by the handle Lone Chumash, and he donated countless pints of blood to local blood banks.
