He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Cohen Akawie and Nathan Akawie; and his niece Deborah Binkert Hedegard (Stan) of Ventura. He is survived by: his son David Akawie of Berkeley; his sister Ellen Akawie Binkert Bledsoe; his nephew Kevin Binkert of San Francisco; his niece Jennifer Bledsoe Blackburn (Scott) of Los Angeles; his great-nieces, Carly Hedegard and Ruby Blackburn; and his great-nephew Billy Hedegard. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
