He was predeceased by: his mother Myrtle Whitener Sims. He is survived by: his significant other Dorothy Lawson; his daughter Shannon W. Sims; his siblings, Neddra Cannon (Frank) and Earl Fisher; and his aunt Angie Davis. He is also survived by nieces, cousins and extended family.
