He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rafael, Hilaria Hernandez, Pablo and Margarita Galaviz; his parents-in-law, Lalo and Christina Cantu; his brother-in-law Junie Cantu; his uncle Frank Appodoca; and his cousin Pablo Appodaca.
He is survived by: his parents, Roberto Galaviz Sr. and Genevieve Hernandez; his wife Sylvia Cantu Galaviz; his children, Robert, Anthony, Michael, Lalo and Erica; his grandchildren, Michael, Kai and Genesis; his siblings, Joey Gomez (Jennifer), Danny Ortiz, Jaime Gomez (Danielle) and Cynthia Olvera (Robert); his siblings-in-law, Annette Cantu Hernandez (Mike) and Manuel Cantu; his aunt Martha Galaviz; and his friends, Harry and Mary Chicklenis.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St, Bakersfield, CA 93306). A rosary was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (601 E California Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93307). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Historic Union Cemetery (730 Potomac Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93307).
