He was predeceased by: his parents, Orbin Chester Yates and Margaret "Faye" Yates; his brothers, Mark Anthony Yates, Orvin "Chester" Yates and Gayle Ray Yates (Carolyn Yates); and his nephew Gordon Dewayne Yates.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Smith; his sons, Gavin Deon Yates of Escalon, CA and Daniel G. Yates of Buttonwillow, CA; his daughters-in-law, Wendy Yates and Alisa Yates; his grandchildren, Brittney S. Yates-Mancilla, Kyle D. Yates, Kara Yates-Cross, Nathan Yates, Alexa Yates, Gordon Wesley Yates and Junior; and his great grandchildren, Alaina Mancilla, Brooklyn Mancilla, Everliegh Mancilla, Wesley Cross and Walker Cross. He is also survived by many nieces, additional extended family members, and more friends.
