It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Regina Birns (Aptos, California), who passed away on September 16, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

In her own words 'It was pure luck I survived." Regina met her husband Peter through he marriage of her mother to Peter's Uncle Selig Birn. Selig and Fela's first spouses perished in the camps. Peter entered the United States at New Orleans, Louisiana in 1950, with Regina arriving in the United States in 1951. The couple were married May 10, 1951 in San Jose, California, and they enjoyed their happy marriage for many decades. Regina loved her home and entertaining family friends. She was devoted member of Temple Beth-El Jewish Community since 1965. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rachel Birns; her granddaughters Sara and Sesha Birns; her daughter and son-in-law Florie Birns Jerusalmi and Benson Jerusalmi; grandsons, Joshua and Jack Jerusalmi; granddaughter Julia, along with two great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony beside her late husband Peter, on Friday, September 21, 2108, at Home of Peace Jewish Cemetery in Santa Cruz , beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Temple Beth-El would be appreciated.
