He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Myron and Isabelle Louise. He is survived by: his wife Peggy (Margaret Mary) of Alameda; his sons, Nicholas James (Nick) of San Francisco and Thomas Joseph (Tom) of Oakland; his sister Sheri Furman of Palo Alto; his aunts, Linda Magarian and Annabelle Taylor (Gray); his cousins, James K. Taylor III (Leana), Janet Hunt, Doug Taylor, Matthew Lievre, Chris Taylor (Melissa), Cameron, Lucas, Gavin Taylor, Janine (Chooljian), Sanders (Vernon), Barry Chooljian (Carole), Beverly Chooljian and Marlene Minasian; his siblings-in-law, James E. Loos, Jr. (Jim), Stephen V. (Steve), Joseph R. (Joe), Paul D. (Loos) and Anne M. Loos; his nephews, Chris Loos, Brian Loos, Zachary Loos and Braige Callan; his niece Johnnie Callan; and his father-in-law James E. Loos. He is also survived by many close friends, business associates, and extended family.

Donations can be made in Rick's name to the Oakland Red Cross Blood Bank, 6230 Claremont Ave., Oakland, CA 94618, the Athletic Fund at St. Vartan Armenian Church, 650 Spruce Ave., Oakland, CA 94610 and the Armenian Fund, 111 No.

“I'm sorry to miss the services on Tuesday but wanted to share a note. Although we've not stayed in close touch I have vivid memories of my freshman year in the dorms at Cal Poly. I look back fondly on evenings spent with Rick staying up late, "bending" the rules and every once in awhile listening to that trumpet. We played some dorm football together but mostly I remember him as being one of the most friendly BIG men I had the pleasure to know. Best Chris Gatley”
