He was predeceased by: his father Isaac Jose "Joe" Montoya; and his brothers, Carlos, Mike and Steve Montoya. He is survived by: his siblings, Dan Montoya (Sylvia), Carmen Green (Rex) and Alicia Jorajuria (Mike); his daughters, Margo Morrison (Athon), Amanda Beck (Jason) and Sarah Gwynn (Ross); and his grandchildren, Cooper Morrison, Reagan Morrison, Sydney Beck, Hayden Beck, Benton Beck, Parker Gwynn, Evelyn Gwynn and Miller Gwynn.

A memorial service was held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church (1815 S 8th Ave, Yuma, AZ 85364). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Elks Lodge (1917 W 32nd St STE 1, Yuma, AZ 85364).
