He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jackson Monroe; and his sons, Dirk E. Peterson and Peter Y. Monroe. He is survived by: his children, Robert Monroe, Nettie White, Katie Seimy, Raquel Mull (Craig), Darlena Bighorse, Lora Chee (Sam) and Louva Monroe.
