He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Dickson and Charley Thompson; his brother Sonny Gene Sr.; his nephew Jonathan "Reese" Thompson; and his great-nephews, Maurice Cody and Cruz Stago.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Thompson, Maria Parker (Darren) and Isaiah Thompson; his grandson Gentry Parker; and his siblings, Lula Stago (Phil), Marie Thompson, Jesse Thompson (Louise), Freida Thompson (Steve), Linda Dickson and Lucy Bonner (Michael).
