He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Urias T. Schmidt and Susie Schmidt (Koehn); his wife Susie Koehn; his children, Milton (Lucille Schmidt), Clayton (Marilyn Schmidt), Frances (Lonnie Medina), Margaret (Kenneth Conley), Glenn (Linda Schmidt), Daniel (Ronda Schmidt) and Karen (Murray Wiebe); and his sisters, Elsie Alvarado and Freda (Lewis Voth). He was also cherished by three sisters-in-law; thirty-two grandchildren and seventy-three great-grandchildren.
They spent many pleasant hours together reading, praying, and listening to the singing until the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions kept them apart, causing both of them to have many lonely days.
