He was predeceased by: his grandparents, H. David, Barbara Persons (Gaugler), Floyd and Betty Newkirk (Ackerman). He is survived by: his parents, Karen A. Persons Newkirk (Douglas E. Thorpe) of Princetown, NY and Ronald D. Newkirk, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona.; his brothers, Ronald D. Newkirk, Jr. (Kirsten) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Matthew R. Newkirk (Elsa Munoz) of Buckeye, Arizona.; his niece Caroline Newkirk; and his pets, Cocoa and Ina. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Steven can be made to the PIMA Animal Care Center, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, Tucson AZ, 85748 where Cocoa and Ina are currently being cared for, or to Hope For The Warriors, 8003 Forbes Place, Springfield, VA 22151.
