He was predeceased by: his daughter Kathleen M. Brewer; his parents, Frank M. Harnist and Elsie M. Harnist; his sister Grace DeBow; and his granddaughter Christin D. Petty.

He is survived by: his wife Joanne; his son Charles Jr. (Diana); and his siblings, Frank and Marjorie Sharp. He is also survived by grandchildren, 15 living great-grandchildren.
