He was predeceased by: his son Benito Cortez, Jr.; and his siblings, Juan Manuel Cortez and Linda Rosales. He is survived by: his wife Irma Cortez; his children, Richard Huerta, James Cortez, Patricia Cortez and Ilsa Rizzi; and his siblings, Gregory Cortez, Florentino Cortez, Irma Chessar and Sandra Loya. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
