He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Arlington Layton and Erdine Hunt Layton. He is survived by: his sister Kathy; his wife Joanna Morris Layton; his children, Ryan Layton (Dionna), Adam Layton (Kristy), Andrea Price (Preston) and Holly Thompson (Travis); his sisters, Kathryn Mullenaux, Linda Norton, Sally Skinner and Deanna Damron (Wayne); and his pets, Maggie, Molly, Sophie, Scooter, Hennesy, Heidi, Toby and Tucker. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
The family suggests that donations be made to children & adults in the Graham County Judicial System.
