He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Hortelano and Elena Valenzuela Hortelano; and his siblings, Jose, Juan, Pancho, Aurliano, Clara, Elena and Manuela (Pete).

He is survived by: his wife Hermelinda Ruiz Hortelano; and his daughters, Sandra Hortelano, Elvira Hortelano and Mariana Way (Johnny). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
