He was predeceased by: his parents, Dolly Belle and Pete Fanning; his son Shane; and his brother Johnny. He is survived by: his daughter Mariah; his siblings, Jim (Janet), Jerry (Julie), Linda (John), Barbara (Jeff) and Ruthie; and his cousin Byrdy (Christine). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Arizona Humane Society.
