He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Heng Kunkel and Raymond Martin Kunkel; and his sister Anne Hale. He is survived by: his wife Claudia Jeanne Kunkel (Lively); his daughters, Susan Kunkel of Phoenix, AZ and Laurie Kunkel Hiaeshutter; his son-in-law Anthony Hiaeshutter of Phoenix, AZ; and his grandson Mason Paul Hiaeshutter (Pamela Kunkel).
In lieu of flowers, the family has selected the Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Center for donations.
