He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Varela and Hortencia Varela; and his brother David Varela. He is survived by: his brother Richard Varela of Lakewood; his sister-in-law Charlotte Varela of Wichita; and his goddaughters, Elizabeth Stevens and Aleah Deptula of Tempe.
A memorial service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Tempe Mortuary (405 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282).
