He was predeceased by: his wife Celia; and his parents, Sofia and Andres. He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Ortiz and Andrew Ortiz (Deborah); his granddaughter Alexandra Ortiz; his brother Ruben Aranda (Mary); his stepgrandchildren, David Meek, Tony Meek and Christina Clausen (Jayson); and his great grandchildren, Christian Meek, Riley Clausen and Tillman Clausen. He is also survived by loving extended family and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tempe Mortuary (405 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 11:15 AM at the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church (2121 S Rural Rd, Tempe, AZ 85252). A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Mesa Cemetery (1212 N Center St, Mesa, AZ 85201).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Joe's name.
