He is survived by: his daughter Jayme Herz; his son-in-law Mac Herz; his granddaughters, Audrey and Caroline Herz; and his siblings, Susan Barger, Elizabeth Slimak and Michael Barger.

Donations can be made in his honor to Kids Need to Read, which provides books to needy kids.
