She is survived by: her husband Dexter Dawson; her children, Temperae Dawson, Dimaryarae Dawson, Nicole Deng, Daniella Arrington (Charles Arrington) and John Skeete; and her sister-in-law Pamela Strong. She is also survived by relatives and friends.

Rachel Dawson was an active member of the Down's Syndrome Foundation where she advocated for her daughter and other children.
