Carol Ann Elg Obituary

Surrounded by her family, Carol Ann Elg, was almost 72 years old when she left this world and entered into Glory on October 29th, 2021, after a year-long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, George Gardner and her mother, Charlotte Gardner. Carol is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Marlan (Mike) Elg, and children Brad Elg, Michael (& Michele) Elg, Tammy (& Charlie) Smith, Kimberly (&Tony) Elg-Sanchez, Greg (&Karen) Richardson, Steve (&Careen) Kuykendall, and 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, brother Tom Gardner (& Linda), sister Lynn Gardner (& Janie Henry), many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces.

Carol was born in Yuma, Arizona on November 8th, 1949 to George and Charlotte Gardner. Because her father was a Lt. Col in the US Army she spent years living in many places in the U.S. as well as Central America.

In 1967, Carol met the love of her life, Mike Elg and son Brad. Just shortly after her eighteenth birthday, Carol married Mike on Nov. 17th 1967 where they began their life journey. Together they raised four children Brad, Michael, Tammy, and Kimberly. Because life is full of surprises, later in life they welcomed two additional sons Greg and Steve into their family.

In 1970 Carol made the most important decision in her life and received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. This radically changed the way they lived their life. It was at this time they began to serve in the local church. In the early 80’s Carol and her husband were called into fulltime ministry where they began a life long journey of serving the Lord through pastoring churches, working at Crossroads Mission, and Bride Ready Ministries. Carol saw every in between job as her mission field and lived her life with intentionality and purpose, always looking for “divine appointments”. She knew no strangers and always tried to love others the way that Jesus loved.

Carol loved her family most of all and always wanted to spend quality time together. The thing Carol wanted most for her family was for each of them to have a personal relationship with Jesus (and learn to play Mexican Train dominoes as a family).

Carol has left this earth but has not left our hearts. Her memory and legacy lives through each of her children and grandchildren. She has left a huge hole in our hearts but we look to be with her again one day in eternity.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 26th at 1:30 pm at Bride Ready Ministry Center (formerly Wildwood), 172 S. Rd 1 W in Chino Valley, AZ. The service will also be available via Zoom.
