It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Brand (Sun Lakes, Arizona), who passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his brothers, Fred and John; his children, Claire (Mark), Kate (Dan), Steve (Myndi) and Tony; his grandson Bryan; his children, Ruby, Charlotte and John; his wife LaVetra; his children, Leticia (Sean) and Philip; and his friend Fiberite.

“Jim and I are saddened to hear of Tom’s death. For many years he was a neighbor and beloved friend on Cactus Flower Drive in Sun Lakes. He and Jim loved sharing their stories of times in S. Woodstock, Vt and we always looked forward to dinners and conversation with Jim and Kathleen at our favorite little French restaurant. We will always remember his breadth of knowledge and graciousness. He was a true gentleman. We will always be smiling when we remember him.”

“In 2005, I was assigned to St. Michael's in downtown Portland, OR. One of the first people to welcome me there was a man named Tom. He was a widower, with children, a big commitment to the poor, a man of faith, a gentleman. I got to know him as a friend. In 2010, I was quite ill and needed rehabilitation time while at home. Tom came every day and walked me around the area of my parish. Rain or sun, he was there. What a gift he was. I helped him with Steven's death. I shall miss him.”
