He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleanor Kappele and Arthur Sydney Kappele of Cleveland; and his brothers, James Arthur Kappele of Cleveland, Ohio. and Dohn Kappele of Cleveland, Ohio.. He is survived by: his close friend Dennis Washington of Sun Lakes; and his children, Deborah Sutton of Middleburg, Susie Sutton of Georgetown, Scott Kappele of Poway, Kelly Tilghman of Queen Creek, Chris Kappele of Chesapeake and Brian Kappele of Saint Augustine.
